Happy Halloweensie everyone! I’m so excited Halloweensie is finally here. This is my absolute, favorite time of the year. Perhaps it’s because I was born in the fall, but I just love this season. The air is cool, and crisp, the leaves are brilliant shades of crimson, and gold, and Susanna Leonard Hill posts her fabulous writing contest that completes the spirit of the season. If you don’t know who Susanna Leonard Hill is, or what this Halloweensie thing is all about, head on over here to check it out.
Please take the time to read as many of the Halloweensie entries as you can, because the talent is always amazing, and the stories do not disappoint. This year’s word prompts are: Cobweb, Potion, and trick. You can find my entry below coming in at exactly 100 words! I hope you enjoy it, and thanks so much for stopping by.
I woke wrapped in a cobweb,
an icky-sticky food-bed,
I shivered with impending dread,
as Spider crawled my way.
My mind raced in slow motion,
reminded of that potion,
that superstitious notion,
the old witch passed my way.
That craggy, hag spoke slickly,
of a get-rich scheme, so quickly,
I responded coxcombically,
now in this web I lay.
I should have seen it coming,
An All Hallows Eve witch summing,
of an evil trick forthcoming,
making me the spiders prey.
To think I turned down candy
falling victim to that bandy,
beastly’s modus operandi,
now a spider’s webbed buffet!
I absolutely love this! Good luck in the contest.
